PostSubject: Onslaught DLC review!   Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:56 pm

EDIT:

The maps aren't newly created. They appear to just be the normal rush maps..Either way it's still fun as hell.

This isn't the review section but since this is only DLC for the BC2 game, I'm posting it here so that anyone in the BC2 group can see it.

I've had a few hours to spend on this mode and this is my overall opinion on 'Onslaught'.

MAPS:

We get 4 new maps. The maps are designed completely different from the others, but still stay in the same areas as the others (valparaiso..atacama..etc). The time of day has been changed so atacama for example is actually dark now.

These maps are a LOT of fun. Very well designed and nothing short of amazing (just like BC2 always has been).

Score: 4/5

GAMEPLAY:

This is only a single new mode, so you can't expect it to last you 400 hours, but for what it is, it's a LOT OF FUN!

Not only can you do this with your friends, but you have 4 difficulty levels to do it on. Even on easy this is a challenging mode, so making sure you have a full squad is a must. But trying it on hardcore...well good luck with that.

The re playability it superb. The missions are just so much fun that it almost makes the rest of the game not as great as this is..

You can still use your favourite vehicles like the infamous Black Hawk, and Abrams tank..and you can all trek on foot, avoiding the vehicles altogether. This mode offers a variety of ways to tackle each mission, so how you play is up to you!

Score: 5/5

Probably the most important thing about this mode, and the thing that made me SO happy when i turned it on....

LAG:

Most of you who've been playing through BC2 lately know that the lag is unbearable. Well not on Onslaught.

It's virtually lagless, making this entire experience just tons of fun...

Score: 5/5 (Not as if it's a real...score per se, but it counts for something).

AI:

Last but not least, the AI of the enemies.

As you probably know, Onslaught is about teaming up with your friends and taking on AI controlled enemies..and how do they do?

Very well indeed.

On hard they give you a break. They aren't crazy accurate and you take little damage, however they feel very real.

The AI is NEVER perfect in a videogame, however I can definitely say that the AI in onslaught is terrific. It sometimes feels like you are actually playing against real players...

Score:4/5

FINAL SCORE: 9/10

The only thing that could make this DLC pack any better is more maps. However with 4 great maps and 4 difficulty levels, we will NOT be NEEDING any maps anytime soon.

If you have any money at all, and you want to buy something, GET ONSLAUGHT.

it's absolutely brilliant. Smile And this is coming from the person who hates battlefield because of some aspects of it!

The worst thing is that they are on the disc...

You pay to UNLOCK THEM, not download them.

DLC stands for DOWNLOADABLE content.

this is Unlocked content already stored on the disc that we have to pay for.

That i hate, but it's still soo much fun.

Well...
I spoke too soon. Guess I could've held off on this one.
I agree that it may be great for team practice, but in my mind after playing it last night? I like the feel of playing an invisible real opponent better. Seems like the AI swarm you, and that seems unrealistic to me. I'm not just saying this cause it's hard, which it is... What is the scoring relation to normal multi play anyway? It just feels too Arcade to me...
Just my thoughts.
