Curious as to your thoughts on this, especially since we've so many UK guys who have their namesake British Petroleum tied to it.

I for one grow a little more pissed each day as details are released. The botched grossly underestimated amount of oil leaking, the apparent short cuts in engineering, the month and a half release of HD images of the riser pipe, etc...

Seems to me like they (BP) are doing everything in their power to downplay the severity of this major fuckup. That may be the common response but FFS, their profits lasy year alone were in the 100 billions.

There are 2 issues in general that have me baffled first, I watched 60 minutes nearly a month ago and they interviewed a rig worker who testified the rubber valve in the BOP was surfacing in the collected oil, he also revealed several short cuts he was ordered to perform. Whats happened to him?

Second, if there was this much fucking oil still in that well, why the fuck would BP abandon it in the first place? The well was due to be "closed" the following day.

I HAVE BOYCOTTED BP GAS PLEASE DO THE SAME.

Being in Florida as well i feel as if we are getting little help and support from other states and own country. I am in favor for offshore drilling,my uncle did it for many years out of Louisanna. But the stupidity Bp goes about it is a slap in the face..From not setting the system up right at first to prevent the blow, to dumping mudd down it,to cutting a pipe to jagged to place the cap on it. At the same time it's part our fault for not putting more regulations on the dilling practices.Obama has no control of the situation due to our drilling laws placed in by Bush. They say a president job is not seen untill the next president is in office, thats counts in disaters. Hello Foregin oil again and high prices cuz of a stupid decision made by BP!

I have Boycotted BP as well

It's a crying shame how little this administration is doing. The biggest environmental disaster in US is getting bigger each day.

our highest office can't step in due to the Bush laws that allowed his Saudi buddies to take over the world gas industry

The Saudis took over the oil industry long before any Bush was in office. The bottomline is Obama has the authority, power and responsibility as leader of this country to do something yet has done nothing while the inept leadership of BP continues to spin their wheels and contaminate our coastlines. I don't care about who did what before this, all I know is our "leader" needs to lead.

I am hating this whole incident and the passing of buck to one another. It has caused so many bad things to happen... over 600 dead, oil soaked animals have washed up on beaches. and it got my vacation to florida canceled

I live in Louisiana. We are screwed. Our economy and environment will not recover any time soon from this. I have seen it first hand as I work for the media. It is as bad as they say or worse.

I would have a little sympathy for BP, since accidents happen, if workers wern't ordered to make shortcuts, and an inspector was bribed to pass it, but since those things happened, fuck you BP!!!!!!!

Where to put the blame:
1. BP - for obvious reasons

2.The American Driver- Our hunger for oil caused the great demand for oil, which indirectly lead to this

3. Presidents before Obama - because they didnt start finding new energy, and its not a fast process

For those that say that Obama is at fault for this and he needs to do more, BP is pulling all this bullshit, and we have this thing called capitalism that gives businesses more freedoms, so its going to be harder to pull more money from this company than it would be in China, or other communist countries where business is controlled by the government.

This is no way the fault of the American driver...this is BP's fault 100%. Oil has fueled every modern economy since the birth of the internal combustion engine. When someone gives me a viable alternative to my gas powered car in my driveway, then I'll reconsider (and don't mention hybrid technology because it's a joke). I'm not saying this is Obama's fault because that's just silly. He is however not exercising an ounce of his power and authority to do a darn thing.

in my opinion it was the worst publicity stunt ever--think about all the media they are getting--but at the same time people, animals, and economys have died and are dying. i say lock everyone of the higher ups for BP in jail till the jail rots on top of them

The saddest thing about all of this is that BP, eventually, will be fine. They make too much money for this to hurt them in the long run...that is what's scary.

Well...it's definitely not on purpose because of the huge short term loss...they are forking over billions of dollars to pay for this.
